This listing is for four .pdf (electronic) patterns.
These blocks, Spool, Thimble, Sewing Machine and Button comprise the Sewing Room series. These have certainly brightened up my work space and it can do the same for you!
These are original quilt blocks designed by Barbara Cain. They each measure 8'' x 8'' when finished. They can be either paper pieced or traditionally pieced.
If you plan to piece traditionally, simply cut apart the pattern and cut out the corresponding fabric pieces adding a 1/4" seam allowance to each side. It is important to be accurate with this! Sew the pieces together with 1/4'' seams just as you would with any other patchwork. Be sure to sew the pieces together in order, i.e., start with piece A1, then attach A2, A3, etc.. Once you connect all of the A pieces, do the same with the B pieces. When the B pieces are all connected to one another, sew B onto A,
and so on.
If you are a paper piecer, you know what to do!
If you are new to paper piecing and want to give it a try, you can download a free paper piecing tutorial and practice pattern from my blog. Just paste this path into your browser and you'll arrive at the blog post and Dropbox link for downloading:

For a 6'' x 6'' block, reduce the pattern to 75 percent.
For a 10'' x 10'' block, enlarge the pattern to 125 percent.
For a 12'' x 12'' block, enlarge the pattern to 150 percent.
This pattern would make a great mug rug, hot pad, apron pocket or pot holder. Enlarge the pattern to make a table topper, wall hanging or tote bag. The sky is the limit!
Just a few scraps of your favorite quilting fabric and some batting is all that is needed to make this cute little block.
As soon as your payment is received, you will receive an email with a link to download the file directly to your computer. You'll still need to fill in your name and snail mail address on the purchase form however, this is for tax purposes on my end and will not be used for any other reason.
You have three attempts to download the pattern so be sure that you save it to your computer.
If you have any trouble with downloading, reducing or enlarging or with sewing, please let me know and I'll be happy to help as much as I can.
Please note that this pattern is for individual use and is not to be used for making items to sell.
Thank you and enjoy!
